We try to make a new 'manifesto' or ethos short surf film every year. In my idea, this video is not only for communication purposes but mainly as a 'motto' for the year ahead. Last year we made a more poetic film, inspired by Charles Bukowski's poem 'Roll the Dice'. The idea was to force or encourage me to embrace new challenges that were about to happen in Van der Waal and my personal life.
This year is no different. But as I see myself finding more and more excuses not to surf, inventing all kinds of reasons, from work to poor swell, I decided to have some fun with myself and make a video reminding me that surfing is the escape from reality and not the other way around...
So our new video is out now and we can't say thank you enough to everyone who helped us make it.
